The Area IV Envirothon is an annual outdoor academic competition for high school students which tests their knowledge in five areas: soils, wildlife, aquatics, forestry, and current environmental issues. Each team consists of five students from the same school and can have up to three teams per school. While each team member contributes his or her own personal best, the score that matters at the end of the competition is the team score. The winners of the Area Envirothon competition have the ability to go advance to the State Envirothon competition and the National Envirothon competition! It is a perfect opportunity for students to obtain greater understanding of natural resources and environmental issues, as well as team building, problem solving, and cooperative decision making.
