Our first day camp was held in 2016 and it continues to grow. We hosted over 130 second through fifth Preble County graders at the Historical Society in Eaton! It has turned into a week long day camp that educates our youth in conservation practices through interactive play and outdoor activities. Want to know more? Click here!
This contest is held in the fall of each year for FFA members in Preble County. Participants evaluate soil for its potential for various uses such as agricultural production or building and site development. Find out more about this competition here.
The Preble SWCD offers a variety of school programs  for kids of all ages. Lessons include soil identification and structure, food web, water conservation, stream monitoring, pollinators, forestry, and more.

Programs Available Upon Request

  • Enviroscape - The Enviroscape is a hands-on, interactive model that is designed to increase the awareness of water pollution. It demonstrates pollution from various sources in the city and in rural landscapes.
  • Streamulator - The Streamulator is a hands-on, interactive model that is designed to demonstrate the process a stream goes through. It shows stream parts, stream erosion and deposition, stream bank protection, stream management, stream energy and stream changes. The Streamulator also shows how we affect the stream and how streams affect our lives.
  • Groundwater Model - All of Preble County's drinking water comes from groundwater. This model demonstrates how groundwater can become contaminated and how it affects our drinking water. This is a great visual tool that helps people understand what is happening to our water supply under the ground.
  • Soils - How it is formed, erosion, parts of soil and identifying the different types of soil.
