With the approval of the Ohio Department of Agriculture, the Preble SWCD is able to provide private applicators around the county a Pesticide and Fertilizer Recertification course. The class takes place every January, and applicators are required to renew their license every three years. Our pesticide recertification course consists of six core programs, and programs for specialty categories throughout the morning. Our fertilizer course is one hour in length and can be completed in the same day. Our program is advertised through our newsletter, Facebook, and website. For information on our course, please feel free to contact the office by phone or email.
REMINDERS ABOUT RE-CERTIFICATION COURSES:
- There are TWO separate payments to be recertified as a private applicator:
- Payment to SWCD for attending and completing the Recertification Course: Forms given at the course notify ODA that you have completed requirements for renewal
- Payment to the ODA to renew the certification: A renewal form will be sent in the mail and must be sent back to the ODA with payment in order to receive the renewed license
- This course does not count as an initial certification course. Courses for initial certification are held all over the state and require you to pass a test. See below for certification study materials, test dates, and more.

Certification is required if you apply fertilizer to more than 50 acres of agricultural production grown primarily for sale. If fertilizer is applied by a co-op or other custom applicators, you do not need a license. Click here for certification steps.
